National Aviation Day is celebrated on August 19th. The First Flight Society National Aviation Day Celebration is normally held at Dare County Regional Airport. The event runs from 10AM-3PM and consists of Airplane Displays, Exhibitors, and Food Trucks.

36 U.S. Code § 118 – National Aviation Day

The President may issue each year a proclamation—
(1)
designating August 19 as National Aviation Day;

(2)
calling on United States Government officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on National Aviation Day; and

(3)
inviting the people of the United States to observe National Aviation Day with appropriate exercises to further stimulate interest in aviation in the United States.

First Flight Society is a partner with the National Park Service at the Wright Brothers National Memorial. The First Flight Society and Wright Brothers National Memorial share in our missions and purpose resulting in the benefit of a partnership that has endured since the Wright Brothers National Memorial became a part of the National Park System in 1933.
